A group of Dare County motorcycle enthusiasts have come together to launch another home-grown charitable event.

The inaugural Dare County Motorcycle Toy Run will take place Sept. 24, and proceeds and toys collected will be split between the Outer Banks Woman’s Club Angel Gift program and Dare County Toys for Tots.

The ride will start at Vertigo Tattoo at 7594 Shipyard Road in Manns Harbor, with kick stands up at 11 a.m. A rain date of Oct. 1 has also been set.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. at Vertigo on the day of the event. The registration fee on the day of the event is $30 plus a new, unwrapped toy per bike.

Early registration through July 31 is $20 per bike and a new, unwrapped toy.

The ride begins with a parade of motorcycles leaving Vertigo Tattoo at 11 a.m. proceeding to Bodie Island Lighthouse for photo opportunity with a 30-minute layover.

The bikes will then proceed north on N.C. 1243, then on N.C. 12 to Longboards in Kitty Hawk.
